Dearest Mommi Kathi,

To a person so loved and much missed. You are no longer physically here, but it doesn’t feel like your presence has left. I feel you with us always. I see you when I look at Jamey and Jalen and your shared eyes and face shape; in their inherited and our shared love of collecting; in the so many carefully picked out, generously and selflessly given gifts; when I reminisce on past events and the care you took with all the details from decor, food, music and program; when I think how warmly you welcomed me into your life, our cross country trip where you so willingly helped to drive and get us set up in Illinois; the many duckies and vases decorating our houses, the Lazy boy furniture you bought that we rocked, read stories, napped in, and as they have gotten bigger, the kiddos like to jump off. Just an abundance of wonderful memories.

I hope I can remember, acknowledge, express gratitude, truly listen, and encourage as you have. May we carry on your passion for history and ancestry so we can tell the stories of our families that you helped record for those to come. I try continually strive to emulate your cheerful tone and way of responding to situations with a laugh and smile.

A wonderful, tenacious, strong, thoughtful, loyal woman whose commonalities with me were uncanny. You carried us in your heart with you always and we will hold yours in ours forever.

Love,

Janine
